Actually someone made a joke to that effect in one of the folklore newsgroups - comes closer to the truth than we realize, not neccesarily about the facts as they are but about how things that die early become bigger in their demise than they were in life. "The Arrow has now left the hangar!" Replace the nouns in that quote with 'Elvis' and 'the building' respectively and you will see what I mean. This is by no means intended to be a slight to the memory of the Avro Arrow and those involved with it. It is a way of examining the state of entertaining a personal magnificent obsession...far better that we are fixated on a thing rather than a living person, that's where stalkers come from and I wouldn't want to be one of those pathetic specimens. Better yet to make the pilgrimage to the Aviation Museum in Ottawa, lay your head against the surviving forward section (If they'll let you get that close) and cry. You won't see many photos here either; I am one of those peculiar people who believes in such things as copyrights. I wouldn't want anyone else ripping off my artwork, why should I go poaching in anyone else's archives without their consent? More info on my comics and other activities can be found at my idirect.com site -Here it is!
Seriously, what I am looking for are stories, rumours, gossip, legends and whatnot on the Arrow - fact, fiction and pure fabrication, because I will be devoting this site to stories, ancedotes, folklore and even poetry and songs about the Big Bird itself along with their sources. This will also be a repository for likeminded individuals to vent their spleens on Diefenbaker's grave since he's no longer alive to take the heat. My personal method of exorcism is my self-published comic book, Arrowflight, which is about as purely fantastic as all-get-out but which is catharritic in the most gratifying fashion. If you want to know what connection I had with it, having been born years after it came and went, well, my father knew one of the test pilots and they used to go waterskiing together. An' that's th'TRUTH! : PPPPPPPP! I would greatly appreciate hearing from other arrowheads, so drop me a line and I'll get back to you!
